016 Cairn, Kirkmabreck, Creetown.

Prev | Next

Description
This cairn measures some 14.00m in diameter and about 1.20m in height. The cairn itself is not that obvious but the two upright stones on the edge of the cairn, some 1.50m apart, are quite obvious and may be the remains of the kerb. A third edge-set slab in the NE are probably the remains of a kerb. The centre of the cairn has been disturbed.

Directions
From Creetown follow the A75 (T) south to Carsluith, then follow the single track road inland until a sharp right hand turn is reached just before a row of cottages. The stones are along the dirt track heading north west.

Parking
There is limited parking in the area and vehicles should be parked in Carsluith.
