036 Standing Stone, Bemersyde, Melrose.

Prev | Next

Description
A single standing stone, located in the centre of a cultivated field on a slight ridge. This stone is not marked on O.S. maps and is probably modern. It seems unlikely that such a prominent stone would have been missed by surveyors and archaeologists alike. However, it does make an interesting photograph in good conditions.

Directions
From St. Boswells on the A68(T), take the B6404. After crossing Mertoun Bridge, turn right onto the B6356 for Dryburgh. Turn right after Bluehouses. The stone is in the field to the left after dropping downhill.

Parking
Lay-by along road side next to field gate.

Fieldnotes
There is little to be said about this standing stone which is modern other than it does make a good photograph.
