055 Standing Stone, Tollishill, Lauder.

Description
The standing stone at Tollishill stands 1.30m high and 0.60m wide and can be seen at the road end just after the farm house. Some 5.00m north west of the stone, hidden in a thicket, a small boulder can be seen measuring 1.30m x 0.90m x 0.40m in height. This combination has been taken to suggest that a stone circle may have existed here at some time in the past. However, the stone is a different type to the present standing stone and it's connection to the present standing stone is unclear.

Directions
From the A68 at Carfaemill, follow the A697 then turn onto a minor road immediately after the hotel. Follow the road up the valley, keeping left until Tollishill. Note, the track is rough in places.

Parking
Parking/turning area at road end. Please take care not to block farm access gates.

Fieldnotes
In the A - Z of Paranormal Scotland, Ron Halliday mentions a possible link with outlying stones across the valley, some of which are recumbent. It is also noted that the Ordnance Survey does not recognise these stones as having any connection, although dowsers have apparently found "energy lines" connecting the remaining stones to these "outliers". A further visit to the area is planned.
